Kuo Man Restaurant has become a beloved institution among locals and travelers alike in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Nestled conveniently at 5, Jalan Tuaran, Sunny Garden, this gem specializes in the rich and hearty flavors of traditional Chinese cuisine, offering a delightful journey for the taste buds.
Upon entering Kuo Man, you're greeted by a cozy and unpretentious atmosphere that invites you to sit down and enjoy a meal that feels like home. The vibrant energy of the restaurant, often filled with the laughter and chatter of satisfied diners, adds to the overall charm; it's as if every corner of the establishment is imbued with history and warmth.
The star of Kuo Man's menu is undeniably their renowned fish balls and beef offal noodles. Imagine a steaming bowl of noodles lovingly crafted with a rich, flavorful yellow rice wine broth that envelops fresh ingredients and perfectly cooked noodles. This was exactly the experience of F B, a delighted customer who expressed their awe at the flavor profile and generosity of the dish. If you opt for the pork offal noodles, prepare for a taste experience that lingers long after the last bite.
For fans of Yong Tau Foo, Sandra Shao swears by Kuo Man's quality, noting how early visits are necessary to snag the best offerings before they sell out. This speaks volumes about the restaurant's dedication to maintaining high-quality dishes that keep patrons returning time and again. Their commitment to authentic flavors is palpable, with many dishes having stood the test of time, lovingly prepared from recipes passed down through generations.
Another highlight is the incredible beef noodles, praised by Dr. Alvin Tung, who raved about the perfect texture and taste. The bowl features a variety of tender beef parts in a light broth, accompanied by al dente noodles tossed in soy. Pair that with their fantastic chili sauce, and you're in for a satisfying meal that makes your taste buds dance.
Of course, we cannot overlook Kuo Man's seafood offerings. As Wei Min Kee points out, the freshness of their seafood is remarkable, making for an exquisite culinary experience. The generous portions, often enough for sharing, emphasize Kuo Man’s value, ensuring you leave with a full belly and happy heart.
Though not every dish hits the mark for every individual—Lyndia Ling mentions a soggy noodle experience—the overall sentiment remains strong, with most patrons eager to return for a taste of their favorite fish-based delicacies. Depending on your cravings, you'll be pleasantly surprised by the variety on offer, ensuring that there's something for everyone.
In conclusion, a visit to Kuo Man Restaurant isn’t just about a meal; it's about the experience of savoring culinary treasures expertly crafted with care, all while being surrounded by the warmth of community. Whether you’re a local on a nostalgic visit or a traveler seeking an authentic taste of Sabah, Kuo Man is unequivocally worth the stop. So, why not make it your next dining destination? Your palate will thank you!

It was fate that led me to discover this restaurant. When I was taking a grab cab to the hotel, the driver told me this place is famous for its fish balls and beef offal noodles, since just right opposite the hotel, me & my husband decided give it a try. I ordered the pork offal noodles with added the yellow rice wine, it was the first time I'd had such a rich & flavourful yellow rice wine broth. They were so generous with the rice wine, even more than I’d use when cooking at home, so delicious! I’m already starting to miss it now that I’m back in KL. For yellow rice wine lovers definitely need to try this! My husband ordered the beef offal, which he really enjoyed. The meat was tender, though the soup was a bit milder compared to what we’re used to. The weather was so hot, I thought of ordering a chrysanthemum tea to cool down. But when the drink served , we were stunned and surprised , almost half cup of chrysanthemum and gave us a ”sieve” too! That’s unique!!! I was heard Ham jian bian is good too but personally I found it nothing special. As for the noodles, we found them nothing too special. However, the portions of the foods were large, easily enough for two people to share. They have many more choices of foods, definitely worth a try!

Every time I go to KK, I will eat here. And I go early to make sure I get to eat the best Yong Tau Foo in town. Sells out fast. Kuo Man has been around for yonks. I started dining here 36 years ago but no longer live in KK. The Lady Boss is older now with the next generation manning the counter. Give a thumbs up, if this post resonates with you.

The seafood here is very fresh, and the roasted pork is also nice. The other dishes and noodles are just average. The noodles are charged separately, and the portion is quite large—2 to 3 people can share one serving.

Good bowl of home made fish ball and fish paste soup. Personally not a fan of their noodles but my family says other wise.

Incredible beef noodles! We were brought here by our local friends and this is a favorite among locals. The signature dish is amazing with a number of different beef parts in a light broth with lettuce and then you've got some accompanying noodles that have been tossed in soy. Noodles were very Al Dente and the chili sauce is top-notch! Then we also ordered a plate of the roast pork. The skin was so light and crispy and the under part seemed more smoked like a bacon or a ham as opposed to the traditional five spice powder and salt absolutely incredible! Came again the next day! Except this time for breakfast this time trying the fish noodles.

Unexpected surprise. Was staying in the hotel across the street. Went out for dinner and I stumbled upon this little shop. It wasn't anything fancy or big crowd that attracted me, i was just feeling like having some noodle soup. When the dish came I was surprise by the generous portion of fish slices, fishball and prawns. It tasted great too !!
